Tech Made Simple
Yahoo wanted to create a new channel to simply help non-geeks understand tech products. There were plenty of technology sites, but they seemed to just make technology seem more complicated and speak to power users. Yahoo turned to us put the everyday user’s needs first by demystifying tech, speaking their language and from their perspective.
Results
The site was designed from the ground up around supporting user’s needs. User research revealed how people approach technology in research, shopping and making decisions based on advice from experts and friends. The site is rooted in its human voice from bloggers that match user perspectives, from the mom to the gadget expert.
New technologies were used to simplify quickly finding, comparing and sharing products. Innovative fluid interfaces utilizing AJAX search, and very tactile manipulation makes it easy and fun to use. The site also leverages your community, realizing that tech purchases often result from friend’s recommendations.
Rich media including videos, product overviews and comparisons help users understand and relate to tech in their life. Shopping integration makes easy to compare prices and buy with just a click. The result is a tech site for the rest of us, where even your mom can easily find which camera to buy.
